The Roving Learners take excursions throughout central Texas 2-3 times a week. When COVID safe, we visit museums, libraries, business, hiking trails, swimming holes/pools, cemeteries, parks, restaurants, local sights, etc. The students engage in academic activities each day, even during the excursions. During the excursions, they get hands on learning and are able to experience what they learn.
During the Pandemic, we are focusing our time outside. We spend at least one day a week on the Barton Creek Greenbelt; among other things, hiking, bouldering, rock climbing, tracking animals and hunting for fossils. We frequent parks as well, where kids have unstructured play and organized games; like, bocce ball, cornhole, croquette. |
